It seems like I've gotten myself into an organization streak. At the end of every year I suddenly have an inexplicable urge to declutter and put thing into order. There's a lot for me to do this year so I'm starting a little early.
This weekend I picked up a nifty little earring organizer from The Container Store. Prior to this, all of my studded earrings were tossed together in a tin box. I spent entirely too much time looking for two earrings that matched on any given morning. Having them neatly displayed in such a way where I can see them all in one glance is wonderful.
Best of all it folds so neatly causing it to take very little desk space. While filling this holder with my earring inventory, I realized that I tend to buy a lot of similar pieces. Knowing this will make a huge difference in my buying choices going forward. This organizer is great if you have a lot of studded and dangly earrings. It didn't work so well with my hoops but since I have another earring organizer which held most of my earring collection, it wasn't a big deal. My other organizer holds all my dangly and hooped earrings but couldn't hold my studs. Having both is perfect.
While I was at it, I grabbed this neat acrylic drawer organizer for my polishes.
After realizing that my polish collection was getting out of control, I went hunting for an organizer. Instead of one that displays the polishes, I opted for one that stores and also could be stored. This one works great except it didn't fit some of my "taller polish bottles". But, as you can see, I have enough "shorter" polishes to fill this box completely so it wasn't a waste.
I'm well on my way to being completely organized. First my makeup, then earrings, now polishes.
It's only the beginning. I have quite a ways to go before I'm completely organized for the New Year. I feel strongly about creating a visual difference in my surroundings as an indicator that the New Year has begun. One of areas I will be focusing on this year is creating as much space as possible by de-cluttering my home. My goals is to live in a minimalist, simplistic environment. This can be a challenge for me as I'm prone to collect & hold on to things much longer than I should.
